An exciting opportunity has become available for a groundsperson position at EJ Churchill at the Swinton Estate, North Yorkshire. We are looking for a thoroughly enthusiastic, hardworking, and motivated individual to further develop the shooting ground, continually improving the aesthetic value of the company.
You will be a team player who takes pride in the presentation and continued success of the ground. You are required to carry out work off-site and on other estates and areas of the E.J. Churchill Group. It is expected that ground staff will become a recognised expert in both maintenance and trap layout design, ensuring equipment is always fully operational.
This is a full-time position that will require cover on a five-day basis that includes weekends and some evenings.
Key Responsibilities

Ensuring all areas of the ground are kept tidy and well maintained. To include shooting stands, grass cutting, paths, trees and shrubbery

The daily opening of the ground and filling of traps

Ensuring all traps are serviced and always fully functioning.

Alongside the shoot ground manager, design exciting, interesting, and enjoyable shoot layouts, continually changing and updating traps and targets to guarantee the best customer experience possible.

To assist and build charity shoots and CPSA-registered competitions both on and off-site at the various annual commitments of the EJ Churchill Group

The general maintenance and repairs to existing traps and ground care machinery

To keep all areas of the ground free from excessive wadding and shatter

To assist in the setting up of corporate events other than shooting

To carry out general maintenance around the lodge as required and any other duties that are within the capability of the employee and necessary for the company to operate efficiently
Heath and Safety

All staff have a duty of care to work within the guidance of the company’s Health and Safety Policy. All breaches of the Health and Safety policy or concerns regarding Health and Safety should be reported to the company Health and Safety Advisor.

The groundsperson must maintain an acute awareness of gun safety and general security around the lodge and shooting grounds and should abide by company procedures relating to security around the lodge and shooting grounds and should abide by company procedures relating to security and gun safety at all times.

The grounds person is to ensure that all clients are aware of club safety rules and procedures and should issue them with the relevant safety equipment accordingly
