Long famous for its bewildering quantity of doves, the province of Cordoba in Northern Argentina, has justly built a reputation as being the dove capital of the world. Following devaluation of the currency in Argentina, agriculture in the fertile soils and temperate climate of the north has grown, with the net result that year round dove populations have continued to rise alongside the bag sizes made by travelling guns. A huge diversity of sporting shots can be practised on massive quantities of wild doves for a fraction of the costs of wild bird shooting elsewhere.
You’ll be glad of the opportunity to siesta under canvas awnings after a morning’s high octane sport and unforgettable field lunches of delicious Asado cooked meats and vintage Malbec wines. The soft rolling hills of the Cordoban sierra forming a stunning backdrop to an exceptional day’s shooting.

Argentina is blessed with a very high population of resident and migratory waterfowl, especially in the Buenos Aires province’s extensive pampas wetlands, where it is commonplace to see and shoot up to 12 different species in a single day. Not only do the duck present travelling guns with an array of exciting shooting, they can be shot on morning and evening waters and respond well to decoying tactics. E.J Churchill’s partner has well-appointed lodges in the very heartland of some of the richest duck shooting concessions in Argentina.

Together with doves and duck, Argentina and Uruguay offer globally unique opportunities to shoot wild Tinamou (“perdiz”) a lowland game-bird similar to quail or partridge in their habits. They are typically shot over pointers and with their explosive flushes and rapid flight patterns, offer great sport similar to walked up grouse in Scotland or quail in the southern U.S.A. Seasonal combinations of multiple game species can easily be arranged or combined with fishing and why not try the massive stags of Patagonia’s cordillera range?
E.J. Churchill is pleased to arrange extended stays and tours of the fabulous city of Buenos Aires or combine your trip with further shooting opportunities and other cultural activities
Southern Latin America and Argentina particularly, is a sporting paradise that offers unrivalled and unique sport in a laid back country with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere: the very essence of a memorable shooting holiday.
